All our buzzer models require a Windows PC or MAC computer running compatible software. The computer displays the name of the first player to buzz-in and locks out all the other players. All quiz sounds are played through the computer and can be amplified via the headphone jack. The buzzers themselves do not light up or make any sound.
Hint: Our free Easy Quiz can be used for the sole purpose of identifying the first person to buzz-in. All other screens and scoring options can be easily skipped so the buzzers are immediately reset for the next question simply by pressing the space bar. Of course! Our wireless buzzers are sold "each" so add more anytime. Just use the Special Instructions button to tell us what buzzer numbers you need. Additional buzzers will work with your existing USB receiver with no syncing, pairing or programming needed! Our wired buzzer systems are sold in sets of 10 buzzers so you can purchase a set for buzzers 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, or 41-50.

Crowd Control Games software varies with the game. Some use a single buzzer to trigger a game action like stopping a timer or spinning a wheel. Others use between 2 and 24 buzzers, and more buzzer games are being developed all the time! Check out our Crowd Control Games page for more information.

Sure. Both models send the same signals to your computer so as far as your game show or quiz game software is concerned, there is no difference between the handheld or tabletop buzzers.
Physical sharing of a buzzer: Multiple teammates sit within reach of a single tabletop buzzer that all teammates share to buzz-in for a given question.
Assign the same number to multiple buzzers: Buzzers with the same number assignment will be indistinguishable to your software. For example, four teammates each with a buzzer set for #1 could each buzz-in as team #1 using their own separate buzzer. Any of the four buzzers would buzz-in as team #1.
Team capabilities of your software: Your quiz/game software may be able to "group" buzzer numbers together to act as a team. In this case, you won't need to change any of the buzzer number assignments to make your buzzers work as a team. For example, with our free Easy Quiz sofware, you first create your team names, and then assign whatever buzzer numbers you like to those teams. Team buzzer numbers do not need to be consecutive and you do not have to have the same number of buzzers assigned to every team. Page 8 of the Online Easy Quiz User Guide provides details and the Tutorial Video titled "Team Play Option" on our Easy Quiz software page shows it in action.
The buzzers themselves do not light up or make sound on their own. It's the computer's job to show who was first to press their buzzer, lock out the other players, and make all the appropriate sounds for the quiz or game you are playing. With our free Easy Quiz software you can customize the sound used for each buzzer as well as for right/wrong answers, etc. See the video tutorials on our Easy Quiz Software page and our Online Easy Quiz User Guide for details.
If I buy additional buzzers, will they work with my existing buzzers using the same USB receiver I already have?
Absolutely. Just use the Special Instructions button to tell us what numbers you want us to use for setting up your new buzzers. Then you can use them all together in the same buzzer game.
Yes! You can change the number assigned to your wireless buzzer by using the tiny "DIP" switches built into each buzzer.
Important Note: Using this procedure to change your buzzer number assignment is NOT recommended if you need to make frequent changes. The tiny switches are simply not designed for continuous use. We recommend buying additional buzzers with the desired number assignments to avoid the need for frequent number changes.

We puposely engineered the tops to fit tightly so they don't come lose when excited players whack them! We also employed a reverse thread so curious or fidgety people are less likely to be able to remove them. Definately! The only thing different about a "Crowd Trivia" buzzer is the symbol markings around the base of the buzzer. To use them for any other games or quiz, simply ignore the symbols since they have meaning only when playing Crowd Trivia.
The complete list of ASCII keyboard characters our buzzers can send to your computer is shown here. For any other characters, we recommend using a "key remapping" utility. These utilities allow you to change the designation of any key on your keyboard to a different character. For example, the "1" key can be setup to send a "/" instead. So pressing buzzer #1 will act the same as if you pressed the "/" key on your keyboard. Check our blog articles or contact us for details on using key remapping utilities. To research on your own, we can recommend Key Remapper by AtnSoft.com (purchase required) and Keyboard Manager by Mircosoft Power Toys (free).
We supply a free USB wireless receiver to first-time customers purchasing two or more wireless buzzers. Subsequent orders will not include free receivers because you won't need them. The added buzzers will work perfectly with your existing receiver without the need for any kind of pairing or syncing procedures. If you want to keep a spare receiver on hand, they may be purchased separately under the Accessories & Parts menu tab.
We include a free USB receiver for first-time customers when purchasing two or more wireless buzzers. If you want only one buzzer, you can purchase a USB receiver for it by clicking the Accessories & Parts menu tab.
We want more than 10 players in our game. Do you offer a wired buzzer system with more than 10 buzzers?
You can add more buzzers anytime to either our Power Grip handheld wired buzzer system or our Big Daddy tabletop wired buzzer system. Just order another 10-player system and use the special instructions button to tell us you want it set up for buzzers 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, or 41-50. So with two systems you can have 20 players each with their own buzzers, with three systems, 30 players and so on up to a maximum of 50 buzzers. You can even mix and match a handheld system with a tabletop system. The buzzers and interface boxes all work the same so it doesn't matter which type of buzzer a given player uses.
You can buy the 10-port interface box separately along with as many wired buzzers as you need, but our 10-player wired systems are such great value that the cost of the individual parts will quickly approach the price of a full 10-player system. You can check prices of the separate parts under the Accessories & Parts menu tab.
For online purchases, we accept all major credit cards and PayPal payments. We use PayPal's secure payment gateway to process your payment. You do not need a PayPal account to pay online. Prepaid company checks are also accepted. We ship as soon as the check is received. Our W9 form is available on request for your accounting department. Call us or use the Contact Us button at the top of the page to request our W9 form or address for mailing prepaid checks.

We accept prepaid company checks and will ship your order as soon as the check is received. Our shopping cart will calculate your order total as well as the shipping fee for USPS Priority or Express Mail. If you prefer, we can prepare an invoice for your accounting department. Just send us your shipping address and the specific items you wish to purchase. We will send an invoice by return email.
You can use our shopping cart to discover whether any sales tax apply for your purchase. If so, call us or use the Contact Us button at the top of the page. We will reply to obtain your tax exempt forms and will then prepare an invoice without sales tax. The invoice will have a click-to-pay button for online payments, or you can send us a company check.
In our 12 years of business we have worked hard to keep prices low for everyone. The only discounts we can consider are for large quantity purchases.

We typically ship within 24 hours via USPS Priority Mail for 2-3 day delivery in the US or USPS Express Mail for 1-2 day delivery. Our shopping cart will show you the delivery option cost just by entering your postal code. Overnight delivery via FedEx or UPS can usually be arranged at additional cost (contact us for overnight shipping arrangements). International shipping is discussed in the "International Shipments" lsection below.
We can arrange overnight shipping via FedEx or UPS by sending a click-to-pay invoice for your purchase that includes the products you wish to purchase, the express shipper's fee plus a $30 rush handling and package drop-off fee. Kindly use the Contact Us button at the top of the page or call us to make overnight shipping arrangements.
Add a product to our shopping cart. When the shopping cart window appears, use the "Country" pull-down list to find your country's name. If it is listed, we can ship to you via USPS Priority Mail or USPS Express Mail.
Shipments usually leave our office within 24 hours. We ship to you via USPS Priority Mail for 5-10 business day delivery, or USPS Express Mail for 3-5 business day delivery. Note that these are advertised delivery times but ou should always allow a few extra days for final delivery. We recommend using the express mail option for the few dollars more in cost. Please include your phone number when you place your order so it will appear on the customs form in case customs or your delivery agent need to contact you. Once the package clears customs in your country, it is handed off to your local postal company to complete the delivery. We will send you a tracking notification by email so you can follow the progress of your package. Note that these international delivery methods are not guaranteed by USPS nor by Affordable Buzzers.
Your international shipping fees are calculated based on the weight of your order. Add all the products you wish to purchase to the shopping cart and adjust the quantities as needed. In the shopping cart pop-up window, select your country from the pull-down list and enter your postal code. The total price of your products will be shown and you will be able to see the price for both USPS Priority Mail and USPS Express Mail options. Any additional VAT, customs fees or other taxes imposed by your country must be paid by you when you shipment arrives in your country. The price you pay us is for the product and shipping fees only.
We offer a 2-year warranty on all our products. At our decretion, we will repair or replace your returned product. For domestic customers, you pay the shipping to return the product, we pay the shipping to send the repair or replaced product back to you.
International customers: Due to the high cost of international shipping fees, you will be responsible for shipping charges in both directions. Contact us before returning a product for warranty service so we can arrange prepayment of the shipping fees to send your product back to you when warranty service is complete.
We offer a 30-day return policy if our products do not meet your intended use. Products returned in like-new condition so they can be restocked will be awarded a full refund of the product purchase price (less original shipping fee). You must pay the shipping fees for your return package. Kindly contact us before returning a product.
